Ans: I am not really an active blogger. Well the reason for that could be that sometimes the computer is not available and sometimes i am too busy to use my blog. I only use it to post my homework but I read all the comments though

Ans: this is totally a new project for me, before this I never used even the internet for these purposes

Ans: I don't think I disliked anything about this project.

Ans: I prefer you giving us the task rather than us choosing our own topics because if there is no work actually given to me i get a bit lazy regarding it.

Ans: the most memorable thing is that the students share their problems.

Ans: yes! I think it is better to just have one class blog as we have now.

Ans: yes! I learned how to use this technology, It maybe useful for me in the future.

Ans: No! it wastes lots of time as I can't type really fast on the computer.

I've created 3 posts, added 1 comment, read 3 comments and looked at the blog about 7 times. I wasn't active because I'm always overwhelmed with so many deadlines of the lawcases.

What I like the blog project most is there's appear to be a lot of opportunities for communicating with other people come from the difference countries.

1.which of these ways of meeting people woulu you try?
I'd like to try to join Friends Reunited.
These 5years, I 've been living in foreign coutry.So I don't have many friends.
Therefore I really miss my old friends and I want to know what they are up to now.
I'm not good at useing a computer and I can't search good informations with the help of the internet.
But If some classmates set up friends reunited,I want join it.
It could take off my melancholy.

2.What would you say about yourself in 3 minutes if you were speed dating?
I'm also interested in speed dating. But after I had a series of 3 minutes conversations with 15 people,
I definitely could be fed up.
Anyway I'll tell them that I'm looking for friends who enjoy eating and drinking togther.

Yes,there is.

I would try Speed Dating. I think it's very convenient like fast food to find partner in 21st century.Because we're in a busy daily life. It's waste time to meet just one person and flirt him/her, then you find out you don't correspondent with him/her. It would take your times much. With speed dating, you could talk to many persons. If you couldn't find a partner for you with speed dating, you could have new friends at least. My point is to have new friend is to learn something new.
Well, three minutes is really a short time for anyone to tell about themself. If I were in "Speed dating", I would tell him some important information. First, I would tell my name and my contact number. Then I would say in one sentence about my personality and my imperfection. Because when we love it's not because the person's perfect, it's because we learn to see an imperfect person perfectly

Which of these ways of meeting people would you try?
1.A house warming party according to my culture (Pakistani). When we shift in a new house, we invite relatives and neighbors at our house. The party starts with the recitation of Quran; someone who has the best knowledge of Quran explains the meaning of the verses and guides us how to apply it to our daily life. After a little prayer, the food is served. Ladies and gents are in separate places where they get together to talk, enjoy themselves with there friends and make new friends.
2.I would like a family get together where we share our happiness, share our troubles and try to solve the problems together.
3.I also like celebration meals such as the two important ones in Islam, Eid-ul-fitar and Eid-ul-azha. All the relatives meet at the eldest family member’s house, not strangers. Children also get money from their elders as a Gift.
Above are the three different ways of gathering I adopted from my culture.

My worst problem which I usally think concerns with cold.
Actually, I really hate cold weather-winter, because
I used to catch common cold in Korea every winter.
Therefore, I was happy to live in Vietnam at first time ,but
I am not.
Do you know why?
The reason is that people in Vietnam always want to keep cool indoor
with airconditioners so it's too hot all the year round.
In my case, when I am exposured at severe cold environment for long time,
my tonsils become swollen soon.
It means , my problem is that I have a weakness for cold.

This is my personal problem.
The problem is the skin trouble.
Before I start living in HCM,I dodn't have any skin trouble.
But for these 2-3years I have many spots on my face.
In fact I didn't change any cosmetics and how to care of my skin.
But nowadays my skin is getting worse.
So my heart is full of this.
I'm not so young,so it will take a long time to cure it.

How can I treat myself

Nowdays I'm often depressed.
I think it began after stopping job.
I often feel I can't do what I want and I feel annoying everything as like I have emotion disorder, so for example when my friends took bad manner at me I didn't tell it. instead of that, I tried to avoid them and I got angry myself. It could'n solve the problems.
But I know I don't want argue with acquaintances around me.
Am I already too old to express myself?

Problem

It seems nobody wants to be the first person to post their "problem' on the blog, and you never know how I want to provide my idea or giving my suggestion to help people..... Okay! Then I'll be the first one.
My problem is very simple, but it really bothers me for a long time. That's:I couldn't sleep well most of the time, I have a lot of dreams. Sometimes I dreamd about the things I worried, sometimes I dreamd about animals or people that I don't know. Sometimes I woke up because the nightmare, but of course most of them I didn't remember when I get up. DO you have same stituation as me? I would like to listen.

Hanoi and Halong Bay

Hello! I'm back!
I had a lovely holiday in Hanoi and Halong Bay. I thought Hanoi was a pretty city; I loved the lake and the small streets and the secondhand bookshops, and the cool - not hot! - temperatures meant I was able to walk around the city and explore it more thoroughly than I have been able to explore HCMC.
On May 1st we ventured to the outskirts of the city to have a look at Ho Chi Minh himself: we queued for about half an hour before being told that we had to surrender water bottles and cameras and mobile phones (and an electronic dictionary!). We left the water - they said we could collect it later, but all the water bottles looked the same and they were all thrown onto a shelf together - but decided not to leave our electronic valuables. We hid them in our bags and pockets. Then we queued for another thirty minutes. The security guards patrolled, making sure the queue was orderly, but as soon as they looked away, people would push in front of us, laughing... Finally, just before we entered the mausoleum, a guard called me aside and discovered my mobile phone and wouldn't let me enter. My friends, with digital cameras, dictionaries and phones, just carried on up the stairs and saw the legendary figure...
Interestingly, the taxi from the hotel to the mausoleum cost about 9ooo for a 2 km trip, or thereabouts, whereas the so-called 'METER TAXI' we took back cost about 40000 for a 6 km trip! And it took exactly the same route! Don't trust Meter Taxis!!

We took a two day trip to Halong Bay and slept on the boat. The tour was very well organised, the guide was funny and spoke good English, the cooks cooked vegetarian Vietnamese food on demand and we had absolutely nothing to do except sit and relax in the calm and atmospheric wilderness.

Last weekend I went MuiNe beach by moterbike.
I visited a small water fall which was surrounded with sand canyon near the beach. I walked in the rever to reach there. The bottom of the rever is white and red sands. I could observe some small fishes, a small crub and some harbs for Vietnamese Pho noodle ( sorry, I don't know the name of that harb) in the water.

Then I went lotus lakes in a sand dune area far from MuiNe about 20 km. The colour of lake is deep navy blue and many mysteriously beautiful lotus flowers blooms in there. Try to go on an excursion when you visit MuiNe!

She was too young to swim herself, and
the pool was very deep-1.8m, of course.
It was really emergency situation, isn't it?

Actually, I was the first witness,
but I'm not good at swimming.
I was too surprised that I started to shout "Help! help!"
as soon as I saw the girl.

Fortunately, at that time, one young brave man of guests
dived into the pool with his clothes on to save the girl.
The man was really good at swimming.
After all, the girl could save her life due to the brave man.

But, unfortunately, his cellphone was out of order forever,
because it was on his pants' pocket at the moment.

Since then, her parents thanked for saving their daughter's life
to the man deeply , and they also presented a new cellphone to him.

Many young people lose the chance of a life time because they don’t spend enough their time for studying.

I find out the reason why I don’t like those statues now. They are so life like, and they make me feel uncomfortable.

What I have learned from magazine, newspaper how to survive an Earthquake are two things. Firstly, if we are out side the house we should run to some open fields. Being near the house is dangerous because of glasses, debris while collapsing.
Secondly, if we are stuck in the house while earth quake happening, we should run to somewhere which could have some room after collapsing to hide such as under a desk or table.

I've never been in an emergency. But I have some knowlegde of lightning by surfing the web. And I find out some ways to avoid being struck by ligtning.
When the lightning is happening, standing under the tree is foolish activity. Because the lightning strikes the tallest object. In a car you are fairly safe, but you have to take off all metal things you are wearing (watch, coin,....). In the home, the telephone, electrical appliances and water taps are things to avoid. Taking the shower is the most dangerous thing to do. Water and electricity don't mix .

There seem to be three possible ways to deal with corrections:

we all comment on other people's posts, both in terms of content and accuracy of language
we all comment on other people's posts in terms of content, but we also have regular class correction sessions using work published on the blog
we all comment on the content of other people's posts; in terms of homework, you post your homework and submit a hard copy (on paper) to me. I correct the hard copy and then you can, if you wish, return to your homework on the blog and redraft it

Hello,
I'm Teresa from Korea.
I'm answering lately because I have been to Dalat for 3 days from last friday.
I think this blog will be interesting.
When I lived in Korea, I joined the home-page for my neibours and I could know my neibour's life and we could communicated each other easily.
Even though I meet my classmates at BK council, I don't have enough time to say hello or something. I will try to write them here to enjoy studying and making more friends.

Introductions, homework, age and games...

Hello everyone! I hope you all manage to post an introduction this week. Please email me if you have any problems. I shall bring a laptop into class on Thursday, so if there are any outstanding problems, we can fix them then.

In the meantime, don't forget your homework; it would be great if people mangaged to post their letter on the blog for everyone to read...

Tina left a comment (below my first post - EICUIB1000 Class Blog: Introductions - Anton) asking for my age (any guesses?!) and whether we could play some 'games' in the classroom. I'm happy to play some English games if you are. What do you think? Do you have any favourite games? Should we play one a lesson, or one a week?

Introductions - Phung

hi everyone,
I'm Phung. You guys can call me Nancy. I'm 21 years old and i'm a student in university. I'm still available :-) .
my goal now is to study well to graduate my university next year and to learn english to pass ielts , maybe next year too. I don't know why sometimes I feel disapointed though I always look very happy. Maybe I just do the same things everyday : go to school, talk to classmate, help mom doing housework. But I can't do different because that's all my business now. I hope my life will be changed next few years when I graduate and have an intersting job. I like to go many places, meet many kind of people, because I think it would help me to be more active.
I still have many things that i want to share with you guys but maybe next time.

Hi, This is Tina. Nice meeting all of you in this cause. I am from Taiwan. This is my 4th year in Vietnam and I really enjoy my life here. I like to keep myself busy, so on weekdays I spend my time studying. Now I'm not only taking English lesson but also learning Japanese and Vietnamese. I have 2 daughters and they are 10 years and 8 years old. My family likes traveling very much. This summer we would like to go to Korea. Can anyone recommend some good places to me?

In class I invited you all to the class blog. Simply go to your email account and click on the link and accept the invitation. You will also be asked to sign up for a blogger account. You can, if you want, also set up your own personal blog, but you don't need to.

Once you have done this, simply start posting!

Introductions - Anton

Hello and welcome to your class blog! My name is Anton and I will be your teacher for this course.

I come from Cambridgeshire originally, although I haven’t lived there for many years. I’ve been teaching English since 2000, in Hungary, the Czech Republic and in Malaysia. I completed the CELTA teaching qualification in 2000 and the DELTA teaching qualification in 2003.

I moved to Vietnam in February 2006 and began working for the British Council as a teacher in Ho Chi Minh City.

I enjoy reading novels and poetry, walking, watching films and going out to restaurants.

I also enjoy teaching and I am especially interested in using Information and Communication Technology in class. This term I would like to use a Class Blog to provide extra reading and writing practice. I hope you will all enjoy reading and writing on this blog.

The first assignment: write a paragraph or two about yourself, and give it the title 'Introductions'. Once you have posted your own introduction, read the other introductions on the blog and leave each person a 'comment' to let them know you have read their work.
